“There is no path to happiness, happiness is the path.”

– – Gautam Buddha.

Buddha is known as light of Asia It is in Gaya District of Bihar State. Mahabodhi temple complex is pilgrim center of Buddha devotees. Fantastic peaceful atmosphere and nice architectural here.
Mahabodhi Temple Histroy :

The site contains a descendant of the Bodhi Tree under which Buddha gained enlightenment, and has been a major pilgrimage destination for Buddhists for well over two thousand years, and some elements probably date to the period of Asoka (died c.232 BCE). What is now visible on the ground essentially dates from the 7th century CE, or perhaps somewhat earlier, as well as several major restorations since the 19th century. But the structure now may well incorporate large parts of earlier work, possibly from the 2nd or 3rd century CE.[2]

Many of the oldest sculptural elements have been moved to the museum beside the temple, and some, such as the carved stone railing wall around the main structure, have been replaced by replicas. The main temple’s survival is especially impressive, as it was mostly made of brick covered with stucco, materials that are much less durable than stone. But this means that very little of the original sculptural decoration has survived.[2] ~ Source : Wikipedia

We visited this place January 2013
Here, you can talk with many monks from different countries. They are generally helpful and would like to impart knowledge of Buddha to you.Though the place is crowded but it’s so peaceful that it seems the center of universe.

It is one of the best temple for Buddhism. Lot of Buddhist Saints pray and meditate inside the temple. On the back of the main temple situated to the west (see picture) there is an ancient pipal tree Bodhi tree.

You can buy a lot of different type of Buddha sculpture outside the temple. Maintain silence since lot of Buddhist saint pray there.

I am very delighted both physically and spiritually while visiting here.

The statue of Lord Buddha is so beautiful. The Mahabodhi Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple was first built by Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century B.C. and the present temple dates to the 5th-6th century.

Once again its time to shine light and hope over darkness and evil. -Aditi Saha
