The journey Munsiyari to Almora is very long, around 230kms. We started our journey at 4 a.m. Our car moved through the dark road and devotional hymns could be heard coming far from the mountains far away which enchanted our mind immediately. We are having breakfast at 8 a.m. in Dhaba after having breakfast again our journey began.
Around 12 p.m. we went to ‘PatalBhuvaneswar’. It’s a religious place. It is located in the village Bhuvaneswar. It is also known as cave of lord Shiva. Photography is strictly prohibited at this place. It’s a 90 feet below ground, low level of oxygen is yet another problem to be precise. Older men and women must avoid visiting the place. The cave has a narrow tunnel from entrance that moves downward.

PatalBhuvaneswar is not just one cave, rather a series of caves with in caves PatalBhuvaneswar is a limestone cave temple which 14 kms from Gangolihat in the Pi Thoragarh District of Uttarakhand state in India.

Our guide showed that a rock represented 33 crores gods. In this place many phatic symbols of Shiva are constructed. Although the place is quite dark. The cave is long 160m and 20 feet deep from the point of entrance. Entire cave covers half km/area. Limestone rock formation has created various spectacular features like stalactite and stalagmite. The cave has narrow tunnel like opening which leads to number of caves.
The first human being to discover this cave was Raja Ritupurna who was king in Suriya Dynasty who has been ruling Ajodhya during the Treat Yuga.
The story started with Ritupurna and king Nala. It is said that once, king Nala was defeated by his wife, Queen Damayanti. In order to escape his wife’s prison Nala requested Ritupurna to hide him. Ritupurna took him to the forest of the Himalayas and asked him to stay there. On his way back home he was fascinated by a deer which was raminy around find it and took rest under a tree. He had a dream where the deer was asking Ritupurna not to chase him. His sleep broke , he wokeup and went to the cave, where a guard was standing. After enquiring about the cave he was allowed to go inside. Right at the entrance, Rituprna met sheshnag who agreed to take him through the cave. It carried him on its hood he discerned all the 33 Koti gods and goddesses including lord shiva himself. It is said that after his visite, the cave was closed. Closed for ages with slight predication in the SK and puran that it will be reopended again in kaliyuga. Shankarchary an in kaliyug during his visit to Himalayas re discovering this cave. Sience then regular warship and affering are being done at this place.
Photography is strictly prohibited in this place. It would be safe to avoid people who are older and have breathing tumbles. But devine for seeking mythological environment.

We arrived the night almost 9 o’clock at almora.The journey of 16 hours so all people were feeling Tired.It was really a long tour….
