The amazing Nohkalikai falls,Cherrapunji

Visiting Nohkalikai was a part of our tour of Shillong. The waterfall is near the town of Cherrapunji, and almost 54 kilometers away from Shillong. It’s 335 meters in height and one of India’s biggest waterfalls. The waterhole turns blue in the winter and green in the summer. When looking at it from afar, it’d look like a white color rope, riding down from the top to the green forest.

“Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.”

Unparalleled beauty :-

Earlier probably, your were interest in visiting Cherrapunji because it gets highest rainfall in India. But now you have another reason to visit this place; Nohkalikai. The place got its name from a woman called Likai. It’s rumored that she remarried and her second husband killed her daughter. Angry and disappointed, Likai jumped into the waterfall and plunged away by the streams.

If adventure attracts you, Nohkalikai is a must-visit place for you. You can do daredevil stunts while trekking and rock-climbing (ensuring safety though). If you are a nature lover, have fun with photography and listening to the chirping of birds. Carrying a camera might cost you, but it’d be under margin.

Though to see the best view of water fall the weather should be clear. The best time to visit this place is autumn. In the months of September and October, the sky stays clear, and taking photos becomes fun. During the winter, the sky remains cloudy. The place that’s nearest to Nohkalikai is Cherrapunji. A night stay at Cherrapunji is cheap. You can hotels and resort at a pocket-friendly price. There are plenty of buses, which can take you to Nohkaikai.
