Shantiniketan Rabindranath Tagore’s island

This is our winter tour of 2017. But this tour was arranged quiet late. There was an intense desire to come here, that got finally fulfilled in 2017. We came by train from Kolkata to Bolpur. We reach at Bolpur station at 9’o clock. Our lodge was near the station. Shantiniketan hotels are not very costly by price. We put the luggage in hotel and we started to explore Bolpur. All first we went to Srijanishilpo village, it was built in 2009.

This village entitle the India’s culture. Different states show their respective cultures that are the theme of village like Bihar, Bengal, Manipur, Nagaland, and so on. Each house represents its own culture.
From here we went to ‘Amarkutir’ it’s a place where different handicraft items like bag showpiece are being sold and you can buy any art craft from this place.

Our next destination is ‘ProkortiBhavan’. In this place two museums are situated. This museum was built up with different sculptures. Different situations show different sculpture. The entry fee of this place is just Rs. 10.

The main attraction of Santiniketan is ‘Biswabharati’ it’s a huge campus. Under this campus many sub buildings are there. The ambience of the campus is amazing. Different building shows different types like library, Upasanaghriha etc. Under this campus a boul sings a song lonely. The whole campus can covered within an hour.

After hanging out in entire campus we had lunch in our lodge. You can hire a care for the whole day to hangout.
In the 2nd half we went to Uttarayan and the entry fee of that place is 40. There is a museum of Rabindranath Tegore. This museum lookslike Jorasakha Thakurbari. There are different types of use objects of Rabindranath Tegore. Different types of houses are there like Punscho, Udichi etc. The place is well maintained and it taken minimum 2 hours to cover the whole place.

After visiting the Uttarayan we went to Kopai River. Kapai is a small stream. Scenery looks beautiful at the time of sunset.

Then we went to Palasbani. The famous hut of Santinikatan is which is situated near the bank of Kopai River. The place covers a huge area and there is a tradition of tribal dance in the area. In these hut different types artefacts are being sold, like bags, picture, showpieces and so on. Evening is the best time to visit that place.

In the morning we went to Fullora and Kankhalitola to visit famous templs. Fullora is the traditional temple of sati and 30 kms away from Bolpur. It’s a very nice place.

Kankhalitola is 9 kms away from Bolpur. It’s a famous temple of Bolpur. There is ‘Kundo’ which carries divine power as per heresy. Santinikatan is a nice place for a short visit.
